Mbps or MB/s? Convert here

Internet speed is measured in bits; file size, in bytes.

At 100 Mbps, a 1 GB file would take about 1 min 20 s under ideal conditions.

Bits and bytes, made simple

Mbps = megabits per second. It's the unit used by providers and speed tests.

MB/s = megabytes per second. It's what browsers, game stores and download programs usually show.

One byte is made of 8 bits. Think of bits as letters and bytes as 8-letter words: to know how many "words" pass per second, divide the letters by 8. That's why you divide Mbps by 8 to get MB/s.
