2.4 GHz or 5 GHz: which Wi-Fi should I use?

Differences between your router's 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and which to choose in each room.

Many routers create two networks. They work in different ways.

2.4 GHz

Reaches farther and goes through walls better, but is slower and suffers more interference (neighbors, microwaves, Bluetooth).

5 GHz

Much faster and with less interference, but shorter range. Ideal in the same room as the router or the next one.

In practice

Near the router: 5 GHz. Far away or behind several walls: 2.4 GHz. Test both and compare the results in your history.
